The series is amazing. And I managed to gather all this in just over 2 weeks. Which is… pretty impressive… I guess? I am well and truly in lesbians with the series. Great storyline, great action sequences, great references, great humour and great music! As you may have noticed if you follow me on Last.FM, Sex Bob-Omb is now my most played band, and that’s only been managed in 2 days. You know, I may even throw up a film review on here, IT’S JUST THAT AWESOME. Whether or not I squeeze off another viewing, I don’t know. I’d love to though. As well as getting those last two soundtracks. And the final trophy in the game.

Yeah, I’ve been busy recently. Sorry about that. I will try to blog more, I promise! Plus, site renewal is drawing closer, so I better get another pound ready xDD
Anyways, I’ve FINALLY gotten back into drawing and, even better, I’M FINALLY WORKING ON MY MANGA PROJECT AGAIN. Although, it’s more of an Indie Comic project now I figured. It means I can do stuff my own way rather than trying to emulate the Manga style. Which is a helluva lot nicer, let me tell you. Anyway, take a look at this:

Hopefully, more on that to come! I’ve been working on a Word document putting a batch of notes together for the past hour and a bit, so hopefully I don’t get too distracted!! Aside from that, I WILL BLOG MORE.

It’s a good day. It was better 4 days ago, but it’s still a good day.

My exams are finally finished! 7 years of studying – 5 for GCSE’s and 2 for A Levels are now over and done with. And with that, I now have to wait about 3 months to find out just how I did. That’s the horrible part.

Now, hopefully this means I’ll be able to do some more blog updates and various other bits of work. I’m still playing around with the main site, so that may change too. Also, HTML5! Must begin to implement that.

So yes, this is just a short post, and I will now leave you all to your days ^___^

It took nearly 8 months. It was pushed back for 2 months. It’s been out for a week. It can only be 2D Anime Fighting Game BlazBlue Calamity Trigger!!

So, the game got released in the UK on April 1st, 2010 by Zen United, who also published Arc System Works Guilty Gear series. A lot of people gave up the long wait for this game – it took roughly 4 months for any announcement on the game coming to Europe, then some sites listed the end of February as the release date. February came and went, with the release date being pushed back a week – a process that repeated for a whole month until the start of April – a pretty good time considering it’s the start of the school holidays. All is forgiven, Zen United!

Also, the Europe version’s box art was done by a great artist called Radiant Dreamer – check him out!

The UK release saw a basic and limited edition – being the collector I am, I went for the cheaper Limited Edition. Extras included a tutorial DVD for all of the characters and a 96 page colour art-book. Packaging-wise, I was a little dissapointed in the usage of a flimsy cardboard box to contain all of these extras – my own copy arrived with a rip in the bottom corner. I’m not sure why the box was used over the digipak or a sturdier, open-the-cover type box.

In terms of game additions, while initially there were plans for new characters, colour sets and moves in the Europe release, the only new features are colour schemes based upon flags of the European Union and Unlimited Modes for all characters (I believe the unlimited modes were available as DLC in America and Japan).

Now to look at the game itself: I love it. Simple as that. The character roster is small, move lists are simple to learn, and the art style has a really unique flair to it. There are 12 Characters available to pick from, each one with around 24 Colour Schemes each (12 new colour sets for each character). Move lists for each character are relatively simple to learn – it’s also nice to see that the game doesn’t NEED an Arcade Stick. I’m looking at you, Street Fighter IV. A nice addition to the console version is the use of the right analog stick to activate special moves, rather than enter a button combination. You can also shift between Arcade and Console modes through the option, so depending on your play style, you can be happy!

Also a huge surprise is the awesome story mode! I don’t know many fighting games with a good storyline, but BlazBlue has one and it’s pretty awesome. The inclusion of lots of nice anime artwork is also pretty helpful. On the note of artwork, the game’s visuals are fantastic. Each environment is made in 3D, with additional anime characters littering the landscape to give some character – most arenas also have a secondary version to reflect nighttime or an atmospheric change. The characters themselves are 2D, using hand drawn frames for each movement. It looks fantastic. But that may just be my inner-otaku kicking in.

Voice acting is also pretty fantastic in the game. The option is provided to switch between Japanese and English audio, a welcome addition to some of you I’m sure. However, with names like Patrick Seitz as Ragna, Spike Spencer as Arakune, Christina Vee as Noel and David Vincent as Jin, you can see why I like the English dub so much. There’s a lot of good emotion from the cast, capturing the atmosphere. Also, Tony Oliver as the confidence-filled Bang Shishigami is just awesome!

Online play is also pretty good from what I’ve tried. With the option between Ranked matches, Player matches (matches with parties of 6, featuring match rotation and Spectator modes), and also Friend matches – a lot of choice. Also, I haven’t really ran into any character spammers yet – looking at you here Tekken 6. Player card system and the level up system is pretty nice too!

Another month, another Purchases Guide. I’m quite enjoying making these. In comparison to last month(s) with it’s super huge amount of items, the stuff presented for this month is a lot less. Not sure how prices compare however. Most of these, amusingly, had been ordered a few months in advance, so I’d payed for them earlier too, reducing the price a little bit. That said, there’s quite an interesting selection for the month.

You’ve already read about my External Hard Drive purchase, so I won’t post that again, however a Final Fantasy XIII review should be up in the next few days. In regards to the other items:

Darker than Black: I’m four episodes into it, and so far? It’s crazy good. Studio BONES in traditional style, making a good storyline and interesting characters. It’s actually been quite a chilling, gruesome experience so far – episode 4 features some very violent scenes including an Elfen Lied style slice-up and a Contractor who could set fire to anything and anyone burning alive her best friend. Yeah, I know how that sounds. But still, it’s worth looking into. Plus it has a.b.s’ Howling so… yeah. xD

Daytime Drinking: This was a Korean film I’d heard about from Funimation a while ago. It’s won a few awards so I thought it would be worth checking out. The story revolves around a young male – Hyuk-Jin – who, after breaking up with his girlfriend, is encouraged to go on a trip to a vacation destination with some friends. The next day he arrives and to his horror, his friends don’t. So, an amusing adventure begins as he tries to find his friends and survive the Korean drinking laws. Not as amusing as I’d initially hoped, but good nonetheless – it’s worth looking into if you like Korean films or are interested in seeing some of Director/Writer Young-Seok Noh’s work.

Abingdon Road Movies: A documentary following the boys from Abingdon Boys School on their first European tour, from Russia all the way to London. Despite the lack of subtitles and very little London footage, it’s really cool to see them off-stage, out and about in Europe. Makes me want to learn Japanese even more now. Also included was a second disc with all of their MV’s and behind-the-scenes videos for each one.

Soul Eater Season One Part One: I’ve yet to watch it, so I’ll get back to you about it!

Yes, that’s right, my external hard drive has arrived :D

I ordered a 1 TB Hitachi Simple Drive from Amazon, for various uses – using with Mac’s Time Machine software, backing-up my PS3 files when the time comes to upgrade my HDD, and to move whatever video files where clogging up my space onto – all 110 GB of them.

Lots of plug attachments in the box, including plug types I’ve never seen before. O__O

Personal highlights are the fact that it is REALLY quiet – it purrs more than anything. And there’s a really nice, Wii-like under-glow when the device is plugged in. Very nice indeed. Still need to remove that scratch-proof wrapping they put all the black plastic parts in though!

Well, it’s just turned 6.15pm. I got in from work… 45 minutes ago? And I’ve so far succeeded in munching down a cookie, a load of biscuits and a glass of milk. Oh and apple juice. Someone explain to me why I still look stick-like. And I’m listening to Brentalfloss’ album preview advert. Soon to be followed by loads of abingdon boys school.

So, March has been progressing slowly. And by slowly, I mean snail’s pace. Not really been much happening, save the release of Final Fantasy 13. Never have I enjoyed a game this much. I’ll finish it sometime!!! …I hope ^___^ There’s also been the constant delays of BlazBlue Calamity Trigger to deal with (as if a year after the US wasn’t bad enough!), plus a few new DVDs to keep me entertained. For just THAT bit longer. All helps I guess.

I started work on a website for my media project too. Should be able to make a semi-interesting blog post regarding that at some point. Also, I will be seeing another Japanese band later in the year. Versailles will be making their debut European Tour, so I’ll be going with Mr. Josh to go and see them live. I’m looking forward to it, despite not having heard that much of their stuff. ONE DAY!!!!! I WILL CATCH UP!!!

As an ending note, I did get some veeeery interesting/exciting/awesome news last Saturday. Not able to share it just yet, but when it all starts up, I will let you know!! Until then, I bid you adieu.

Yeah…. in regards to some of them, the mass of Utada CDs were bought very cheaply together – I blame seeing her live for making me want to get them all :3. Tatsunoko VS Capcom was won at a competition hosted by the guys at UK Anime, so I have them to thank for that!
There’s a few other bits, but they exist as virtual DLCs and Apps, for the PS3 and iPhone… But I don’t want to make myself look more crazy.

Weirdly, this month has been quite good! Aside from the exams I’m currently in the middle of, I’ve had a pretty good month!
I passed my driving test on Wednesday with only six minors, and my first time too! So, I can thank the year and a quarters worth of lessons for that.
As well as that, I went to see Feeder last night under the guise of their side-project name “Renegades”. Standing 2 feet away from an awesome band is pretty good – aside from the blown out, squeaking ear I currently have.

Still, February (and my final exam until June) are fast approaching – hopefully I’ll be getting a few new things in the post very soon (Abingdon Boys School’s second album anyone?). Will try and get some of these write ups done too when I get a chance.

And a merry new Decade to you all! Hope you all had a great Christmas/Hanukkah/holiday season and have got your new years resolutions and plans sorted out.

As of right now I am entering the exam stress period, with two exams at the end of the month and one last performance with my amateur theatre group The Thalians. That’s going to be a sad day.

With that out of the way, I’m going to get back to munching on Chocolate and revising for exams.

I’m desperate to start blogging some more, so maybe you will see a lot more content this year, rather than a number of posts that can be counted on your fingers (maybe toes too).
